POLICIES AND BY LAWS
Introduction
Section 1: Definitions – Whenever the following terms are used in these Bylaws and Policies, they shall have the meaning set forth below:
Board Board of Trustees of the Carson City School District.
Certified Employee An employee who holds a position for which a State certificate in education is required.
Clerk Clerk of the Board.
Full Board Authorized number of voting members, including any position in which a vacancy may exist.
Meeting Any gathering which is attended by or open to all of the members of the Board, held with the intent of the members present to discuss or act as a unit upon the specific business of the Board.
Classified Employee An employee who holds a position for which no State certificate in education is required.
President The President of the Board of School Trustees.
Professional A certified employee.
Superintendent The Superintendent of Schools of the Carson City School District.
Section 2: Rules of Construction – “The auxiliary verbs, “shall” and “must,” indicate a
mandated action; “may,” indicates an action which is permitted but not mandated.
